Sports neurology involves the diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of neurologic injuries related to sports. These include concussions and other forms of traumatic brain injury, spinal injuries and damage to peripheral nerves. It also includes counseling athletes who suffer from chronic neurologic conditions including stroke, migraine, multiple sclerosis and epilepsy. Sports neurology is among the fastest growing subspecialties in neurology. UConn NeuroSport combines the medical disciplines of sports neurology with orthopaedic surgery, and non-operative sports medicine that are also available at UConn Sports Medicine.
