Sports Medicine

Expert Care for Athletes

Sports medicine experts at the New England Musculoskeletal Institute specialize in the care and treatment of athletic injuries. From the management of complex joint, muscle and ligament disorders to sprains and strains, our specialists understand the importance of training, conditioning, surgical interventions and non-surgical rehabilitation in the treatment of these conditions.

Our comprehensive team is dedicated to the prevention of, as well as care of, competitive and recreational athletic injuries. This care includes pre-season and pre-participation physicals, coordination of conditioning, training, and rehabilitative programs. We provide on-site care at athletic contests and events, with prompt follow-up care and surgical management of musculoskeletal injuries.

We Care for Young Athletes

UConn’s sports medicine experts provide care to adolescent athletes who sutain ligament ruptures, fractures, overuse injuries; i.e., Little League elbow, and more.

Female Athletes

UConn research has led to new approaches in prevention, screening and treatment of injuries in the female athlete. This includes prevention of and care for tears of the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL), and other injuries that are common in women.
